He's carried the American flag in every race he's run since 2015 to honor the military, law enforcement, and first responders. In 2023, he set a record for most Spartan Trifectas run by a male athlete (32) after running a total of 158 events that year. He has run 675 events and 11,000+ miles with the flag, reminding us all of the importance of community. | | | | kory brown | After getting deployed to Iraq twice, Kory was left almost completely deaf, struggling with a traumatic brain injury and PTSD. After one drunken night almost cost him his life, he turned his energy towards exercise.
"I've worked for the past eight months to fight against the demons lurking in my head, and on this Spartan journey I've gotten a hold of them and use them to my advantage now," he says. "I'm very grateful to the Spartans, Spartan staff, team, and volunteers. This community has given me a family I never had, so thank you for all your time and wisdom."
