| | | | Hi, there! Once upon a time, I had a higher tolerance for truly depressing books. That's not to say I ever loved them—I've never been drawn to doom and gloom—but over the years, my tastes have shifted. Now, hope matters more to me. Maybe it's the weight of living through years of "unprecedented times" (ugh) or the way life grows more complicated with age. Or maybe it's just personal preference. Whatever the reason, I find myself drawn to books that not only grapple with serious issues but also offer some measure of comfort. | With that in mind, I'm sharing three of my favorite recent hopeful novels—stories that face hard truths while still leaving room for light. I hope you find comfort in them too. | Yours, Genevieve Senior Books Content Manager @ Pix Current 📖: Like, Follow, Subscribe: Influencer Kids and the Cost of a Childhood Online by Fortesa Latifi |

| | | The Stack | 3 Great, Contemporary Novels About Hope | Are any of these books hidden gems? No. But, chances are, you haven't read at least one of them, so I'm going to keep banging the drum! | | | Less | by Andrew Sean Greer | Listen, if you're going through a weird time or dealing with feelings of loneliness and regret, you need to get this novel in your hands. Watching Less attempt to run from his problems but, instead, find himself, is exactly as funny, joyful, and comforting as it sounds. Plus, for a Pulitzer Prize winner, it's delightfully easy to read. | Read plot |

| | | | The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue | by V. E. Schwab | I listened to this audiobook during a very tough transition period a few years ago, and wow—I truly felt like Addie was holding my hand through it all. Yeah, there's a love story here (and a disarmingly attractive devil-like character, if that's your vibe), but it's not a romance. This is a self-love story through and through. | Read plot |

| | | | Project Hail Mary | by Andy Weir | Okay, I know this one is the talk of the town right now, but I literally just finished it and have to gush. I was shocked by how many times I audibly laughed and "aww"-ed while reading this sci-fi buddy comedy. And I don't even like space—thinking about it usually gives me the heebie-jeebies! | Read plot |
