| | Good morning. There's a major battle over a nomination for a role we're willing to bet you haven't heard of — but it's one of the most important positions still to be filled. Plus, it's no secret that DOGE has gotten some pushback from Democrats, but trouble is now brewing for Elon Musk within the GOP as well. | Mentioned in this edition: Pam Bondi, Jeffrey Epstein, Kash Patel, Donald Trump, Elon Musk, Susan Collins, JD Vance, Keir Starmer, Mike Johnson, Linda McMahon, Dave McCormick, Donald Trump, Tim Walz, Scott Jennings, Mitch McConnell, Elbridge Colby, Tom Cotton, Donald Trump Jr., Lisa Murkowski, John Curtis, and more. | | Have tips? | | π WHAT WE'RE WATCHING | | ⚖️ AG Bondi accused the FBI of withholding Epstein documents. Attorney General Pam Bondi demanded that FBI Director Kash Patel ensure all files are made available after learning from a source that the FBI field office in New York has thousands of pages of Jeffrey Epstein-related documents that were not disclosed. Though the DOJ did release a handful of files yesterday, there were no new names or revelations to be found, and the documents were heavily redacted. | ✅ The House and the Senate have both passed reconciliation blueprints. Now, both chambers will have to agree on one plan going forward. President Trump prefers the House plan, which will attempt to pass the entirety of reconciliation in one go — but the Senate prefers its faster two-bill plan, which could see a major border security, defense, and energy bill passed quickly. | π€ The Trump administration held its first cabinet meeting. Though not all cabinet members — most notably the Secretaries of Education and Labor — have been approved, the nearly full cabinet met this past Wednesday for the first time. Trump took questions from the press and asked Department of Government Efficiency head Elon Musk to speak as well, sparking anger in the media. | π° Trump is planning to spend big in the 2026 elections. The president has told allies that he will spend his own campaign dollars — which total over $500 million — and that he also plans to have a significant role in selecting nominees for key states. While some allies have said they would leave blue-state Republicans, like Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME), alone, rebellious Republicans in red states could be targeted in primary battles. |

THE EXECUTIVE | President Trump signed an executive order expanding the Department of Government Efficiency's authority to oversee federal spending. President Trump accepted an offer to visit the United Kingdom for a state visit, becoming the first second-term president ever to receive an invitation. Vice President JD Vance doubled down on his criticisms of the United Kingdom's lack of free speech in an Oval Office meeting with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer. JD Vance is taking a ski trip with his family to Vermont this weekend.

| | DOGE's slashing spree sparks GOP pushback | | Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) has enraged Democrats with its investigations and eliminations of wasteful government spending. However, its aggressiveness — particularly DOGE's "What did you do this week" email and its recommended mass firings — has garnered pushback from Trump administration officials and congressional Republicans who believe Musk has gone too far… | π This article is for members only | |
