| | WHAT WE'RE WATCHING | | πΊπ¦ Ukraine and the US agree on a minerals deal. Ukraine agreed to a deal with the US to jointly explore its mineral resources, including oil and gas, after Washington dropped its demand for a $500 billion share. Despite the favorable terms, the deal still leaves some critical issues, like the size of the US stake in the fund, to be resolved in follow-up meetings. President Zelensky is expected to be in Washington, DC, on Friday to sign the deal. | π³ Trump introduced a $5 million "Gold Card" for wealthy immigrants. President Trump announced a new $5 million "Gold Card" visa aimed at attracting wealthy individuals to the US, offering green card privileges and a pathway to citizenship. Trump believes the program could raise trillions in revenue, though questions remain about how the administration can legally end or change an existing green card program without Congress. | π©Ί Trump signed an executive order for healthcare price transparency. President Trump signed an executive order requiring the Departments of Treasury, Labor, and Health and Human Services to enforce transparency in healthcare pricing, ensuring hospitals and insurers disclose actual prices. The move aims to lower healthcare costs by making prices comparable across hospitals, including prescription drug costs, and enabling consumers to shop for better deals. | πΌ Trump added a portrait of President Polk to the Oval Office. We recently ran a story covering the presidential portraits Donald Trump decided to hang in the Oval Office, including Theodore and Franklin Roosevelt, Zachary Taylor, and Ronald Reagan. Now, the president added a portrait of President James K. Polk, known for adding more than one million square miles to US territory, including extending the country all the way to the Pacific Ocean. |

| | MY THOUGHTS | Trump says "dictator," but peace gets closer | Good morning. Amid ongoing negotiations to end the war, Trump called Zelensky a dictator and framed the conflict in a way that placed responsibility on Ukraine. | On one hand, the dictator label comes as Zelensky's popularity declines, elections remain canceled, and young men are continually drafted to the front lines. | Then again, Putin is a dictator. And a murderer — something Trump has openly said before, even once threatening to hit Moscow directly. | Here's what I think: Trump had to make Putin feel like he was negotiating fairly. Bringing both parties to the table means appearing fair. | If there's one thing that has defined Trump's second term so far — more than his first — it's his willingness to take a media firestorm to gain leverage in negotiations and secure real foreign policy wins. Look at the Canada and Mexico tariffs, his comments on clearing out Gaza — you get the point. | I think this is more of the same. And even if it's not — if Trump genuinely believes Zelensky is a dictator — it doesn't matter. We've still never been closer to peace than we are now. | Zelensky even said he's willing to resign if it leads to peace. The US-Ukraine mineral deal just went through. And all of this happened after the "dictator" comment. | Regardless of the media freakout, Trump is moving closer to his goals. | |

| | THE MAIN STORY | Concerns grow over treason at US intel following Trump directives | | What's happening | Some FBI and CIA employees are reportedly enraged by President Donald Trump's plan to overhaul their agencies and are willing to sabotage them in response. Some employees are allegedly destroying evidence, and others may be considering selling out America's secrets to the enemy. | The facts | → A whistleblower from the FBI confirmed to journalist Michael Shellenberger that workers inside the agency have been "destroying evidence on servers." | → There are speculations as to what evidence employees are destroying, but nothing has yet been confirmed. Director Kash Patel was made aware of this. | → Patel previously caught heat from FBI employees for wanting to make changes to the agency, including sending thousands of them out into the field "to be cops" — not to sit behind a desk at headquarters. | → In early February, the CIA sent the White House an unclassified email listing all new hires who have been with the agency for two years or less. This ignited CIA employees' anger, as they claimed such a move could expose their identities to foreign government hackers, placing them in danger. | → CIA workers are also furious over President Trump's push to cut the workforce and audit spending, particularly through the efforts of Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). | → DOGE has access to the federal government's payment system, which is not only used for programs like Social Security for Medicaid, but also by the CIA to funnel payments for sensitive projects. | → Despite widespread concern in the media, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent previously assured that DOGE's access to these systems is limited to "read-only" to conduct financial audits. | → Now, some of the CIA's top brass are discussing concerns that disgruntled former employees might commit treason by leaking classified information to foreign adversaries like China or Russia in acts of revenge over firings. | → These concerns over treason at the CIA come amid recent revelations about another intelligence agency, the National Security Agency, where employees used secret chat rooms for explicit discussions on topics like genital castration, fetishes, polyamory, and more. | Our insights | Reforming institutions like the IRS is one thing; restructuring intelligence agencies is far more complex. These institutions wield immense influence at home and abroad and have worked against Trump for nearly a decade. From advancing the now-discredited Russiagate narrative to intel agencies actively colluding to suppress the Hunter Biden laptop story, they have repeatedly sought to undermine him. The FBI's role in January 6 only deepens concerns about their political entanglements. | Their resistance to Trump's proposed reforms — and the concerns about national security — validates his claim that federal institutions have been politicized. The issue isn't budget cuts or appointments — it's an entrenched bureaucracy that has operated with little oversight and clear political motivation. Trump's current efforts are challenging that. | |
