| | | | WHAT WE'RE WATCHING | | π± Trump gave TikTok another 90-day reprieve. President Trump's third extension for TikTok is supposed to allow ByteDance, the Chinese company that owns the app, to finalize a deal to sell the platform. But critics, including some conservatives, have argued that Trump's reprieve runs afoul of a law passed by Congress late last year, which gives the president permission to sign only one such extension. The first extension was granted on Jan. 20, making this current one legally dubious. | πͺ The Senate passed the first bill regulating cryptocurrency. The GENIUS Act will provide full federal reserve backing for the issuance of "stablecoins" by private companies, such as banks and major retailers, in return for monthly audits and other oversight. The bill now goes to the House, which is already considering its own crypto regulation bill. The main difference — the Senate bill puts regulatory power in the Treasury Department, the House in a variety of agencies — will likely be ironed out in the coming months. | πΊ Republicans are running more pro-Big, Beautiful Bill ads. Securing American Greatness, a pro-Trump nonprofit, will be launching even more advertisements supporting the Big, Beautiful Bill. The ads will run nationwide and will cost somewhere in the 8-figure range. The ad campaign underscores how unpopular the spending and tax cut bill has become amid attacks from Democrats, with polls showing a plurality of Americans — 42 percent — disapprove of the legislation. | π΅ The DNC is almost out of cash. Officials at the Democratic National Committee (DNC) are reportedly considering borrowing money in order to pay off their bills. The news comes amid infighting at the DNC, where party leader Ken Martin — only less than five months on the job — has had a rocky tenure. Social media activist David Hogg was forced out after some Democrats said they had elected too many men, and last week, major labor leaders departed the Committee as well. |

| | | QUICK AND IMPORTANT | Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. held a meeting with the CEO of Starbucks, where they discussed "the company's plans to further MAHA" on their menu. Rep. Max Miller (R-OH), who is Jewish, claimed he was run off the road by a "deranged" man waving a Palestinian flag. The Pentagon suspended an officer — who helped oversee Middle East policy — who called Israel a "death cult" and America's "worst ally." President Trump will not have to return control of California's National Guard to Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) while the case works its way through the court, a federal appeals court panel unanimously ruled.
