Why we wrote our recent deep dive
| Hey, | I disappeared on Thursday. If you emailed me, sorry — I saw it, I just didn't respond. I spent the entire day reading and writing about Iran and the bomb, because the more I dug in, the more I realized how much critical context is completely missing from the conversation right now. | Not the last two weeks. The last forty years. How nine countries got nuclear weapons and who helped whom. Why knowing how to build a bomb isn't the same as building one. The incredible, almost absurd operations the US and Israel ran to sabotage Iran from the inside — and how, after all of it, Iran was still just weeks away. | We sent it to our members yesterday. The response has been the best I've ever gotten on a piece. | Robert S: "This is without a doubt the best dissertation of the history of Iran and its determination to obtain a nuclear weapon." Mona A: "Thank you for helping me to understand what really is true and reasonable for this conflict." Jim S: "The piece on Iran's building the bomb is an incredibly well written piece of history." Brian P: "Excellent. Thanks for the history of them working on the bomb and the American history of sabotage and help to them over the different presidents." Ruth L: "Very informative!!! Thank you for the deep dive." Chai B: "Wow, absolutely incredible breakdown of circumstances!" Michael H: "Excellent explanation of what led up to the strikes." Shirley D: "Thanks for offering true journalism!!" Alice N: "Thank you for this excellent Deep Dive." Ken F: "Wow! Great article about 'the Bomb'." Loraine B: "Very well done!" JY: "Well said! Plain language."
| And from Brandon, our Managing Editor: | | Why am I showing you all of this? | Because this is what we do — and we can only continue if you choose to support us. A piece like this takes an entire day of research, writing, and back-and-forth editing with Brandon, to turn forty years of history into something you can sit down and actually understand. |
