Week 2 reshuffled the Heisman Trophy race. On3's panel of national experts turned in fresh ballots after another full slate of games, and the board looks a lot different this time: six players who picked up votes in Week 1 fell off entirely, while eight new names cracked the field for the first time.
Each expert submits a top-10 ballot, with first-place votes worth 10 points, second-place worth nine, and so on. Coming off Week 2, here's a snapshot of how On3's Heisman Trophy Poll looked.
4. QB Kamario Taylor, Mississippi State - 96 points
WEEKEND STATS: 16-of-22 passing for 227 yards, 3 TD | 13 carries for 86 yards
Mississippi State has itself a quarterback. Taylor has already accounted for eight touchdowns, seven passing and one rushing, while taking only one sack. He hasn't thrown an interception through two games, and he backed that up by helping the Bulldogs blow out a Minnesota team that's also projected to be pretty decent this year.
8. RB Jadan Baugh, Florida - 31 points
WEEKEND STATS: 14 carries for 136 yards, 2 TD
Baugh was having a relatively low-key night against Campbell. Then he broke off a 75-yard touchdown run that sent him to the bench early as the blowout took hold. Florida's careful handling of his workload through two games hasn't stopped him from averaging 10.6 yards per carry with five scores on the season.
Notably, two non-quarterbacks hold down the top two spots this week. All 24 players who picked up votes this week are below, from the top of the board down to the newcomers who appeared on ballots for the first time.
