Before Justice Comes Mercy

This Sunday is Divine Mercy Sunday. Every time you pursue reconciliation with your wife instead of continually pressing your case. Every time you give your child the benefit of the doubt before moving to judgment. Every time you forgive your child when they have done something wrong. All of it is the opportunity to spread mercy in a world that is in desperate need of it.

Brother,

Every man carries the weight of his failures.

The times you sinned by choosing yourself over God, over your family, over what you knew was right.

This Sunday is Divine Mercy Sunday. It exists because God looked at all of that sin and chose to pour out His mercy to us anyway. He opened a door that we should all go through.

St. Faustina recorded these words from Our Lord in her diary:

"I first open wide the door of My mercy. He who refuses to pass through the door of My mercy must pass through the door of My justice.”

Wow and Praise God! Gratitude is the only right response to mercy. It's men who are aware of this mercy that naturally become men who give it.

It is often the most subtle signs of how we carry and present ourselves that open others up to a conversation with others.

That is why this week, on Divine Mercy Sunday, I will be wearing our Divine Mercy Silk Necktie and doing my best to praise Christ for His mercy.

So men. Pray for mercy. Extend it to others.

That's what Catholic gentlemen do.

In Christ’s Mercy,

John Heinen
